Note on file types: Some files need additional software to view them. You may already have the software you need -- if in doubt, try it first. However, if you don't have the software you need, the following may help:
- For *.pdf files, use Adobe Acrobat Reader or GhostView.
- For *.doc files, first try your current word processor. If you don't have a word processor that can open Microsoft Word files, you could use Microsoft's Word viewer (Windows machines only). Alternatively consider AbiWord. It's only a little larger than the Microsoft Word viewer, you get an elegant word processor into the bargain, it's free, and it runs on systems that can't run Microsoft's viewer.
- For *.rtf files, you should be able to use your current word processor (or get AbiWord).
- Files with no extension as well as *.htm, *.html, *.shtml and *.txt files should display fine in your browser without any additional software.
